Land of Oak & Iron Newsletter

We are back!
Welcome back to our Land of Oak & Iron Newsletter! We have been busy creating a new look newsletter, let us know what you think of the design in the 'Comments' section.
We've also updated our café menu, with new light bites, special sarnies and perfect dishes to warm you up during the colder months.
We have lots of exciting festive events and workshops coming up now that we're rapidly approaching Christmas! Some are already sold out, like our Christmas Wreath and Christmas Glass Shapes Workshops, but not to worry, there will be more workshops coming up soon, but be quick to book to avoid missing out!
Look out for our Mischievous Elves hiding inside the Heritage Centre in their new little outfits made by the incredible Derwent Threads, starting 1st December, along with our Two Little Mice outdoor trail from local children's author and illustrator Monique Scott.
Ancestry with Anthea- Friday 1st December
Our Ancestry with Anthea sessions are back too! Have you ever wanted to research into your family history, but don’t know where to start? Anthea’s sessions are a great place to start with her 20 plus years experience in researching family history.
Anthea has run many successful classes at our Heritage Centre after retiring from her role as Gateshead Council’s Local History and Heritage Manager and has continued to help people living locally and around the world trace their family trees with her wealth of knowledge about the North East. She's also an author and has written several books about the local area.

Frost Fest - Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th December

It is almost time for our Frost Fest event! We are so excited to share a weekend of festivities with you all.
We have something for everyone with kids crafts, tasty food and even Father Christmas visiting us!
There will also be live music throughout the weekend with Major Cough Cough’s Thunderbox on Saturday morning, Julie Wilmore and William Blythe on Saturday afternoon, and Axum Folk Ensemble on Sunday afternoon.
You can also join in one of our separate workshops and a guided bird walk you can book onto if you are still wanting more! Check our website for more details:
Willow Lantern Workshop - Saturday 9th December
This was such a popular workshop at last year's Frost Fest and was fully booked very quickly - so we thought it would be a good idea to run it again this year too!
This fun workshop will show you how to make your own unique willow and paper lantern - it's yours to keep, but we would really love it if you could come and be part of our little lantern parade on Sunday afternoon too.
Suitable for both adults and children aged 6 and over. Younger children will need an adult to work with as it's a little bit tricky for little fingers to make.
