About the Event
During this two hour workshop you will create a miniature stitched abstract landscape. Working with a small photograph, pre-printed onto cotton, you will develop your landscapes, exploring texture and colour, using small snippets of cloth and some simple hand embroidery stitches.
You can also add some whimsical words to your landscape, using snippets from Jessica's old books.
Once completed, the stitched collages are wrapped around a vintage wooden bobbin, which can then be hung or displayed in the home.
All materials are provided in small kits although there will be some shared materials available too.
Whilst some knowledge of basic sewing is useful, it is not essential and beginners are very welcome!
You will also be treated to a glass of wine and nibbles during the session with the option to buy more from the cafe.
Places are limited and booking essential. A perfect workshop to treat yourself, come with a friend or as a gift for someone special.
About the artist: Jessica Kinnersley is a local textile artist who creates mixed media pieces using vintage linens, papers and found objects. She is inspired by the things she finds, which often inform the scale and theme of a piece. Lovingly repurposed; her work often features stitched musings and printed images, layered to create nostalgic textile art and collages.
