About the Event

Join us on this early morning guided bird walk around the lower Derwent Valley.

International Dawn Chorus Day, held on the first Sunday in May, celebrates nature’s wonderful symphony of bird song.  It is a time when birds fill the air with song to attract mates and defend their territories.  By May most of the Spring migrants would have returned to the lower Derwent Valley including six species of warbler alone.

Join local ornithologist Michael Turner who will guide you through the sometimes bewildering array of bird song, helping you identify each species by sight and sound.

Suitable for all ages - the walk will be on regular pathways with some slight gradients.

Please bring binoculars if you have them and dress appropriately with stout footwear, waterproofs may be necessary depending on the weather.

No dogs please.
