About the Event
Autumn is a great time to discover the delights of birdwatching. Summer visitors have left but winter migrants have started to arrive in the Derwent Valley to feast on the seasonal bounty.
Local ornithologist Michael Turner will lead you on this guided walk around the lower Derwent Valley identifying the different species by sight and sound - it's a perfect time to spot winter migrants but also enjoy the autumnal colours surrounding Derwenthaugh at this time of year.
The walk will be on regular footpaths and forest tracks with some steep steps. Please dress appropriately with stout footwear and bring binoculars if you have them. Sorry no dogs.
We will meet in the courtyard of the Land of Oak and Iron Heritage Centre.
Refreshments available to purchase at café shrub after the walk.
